Primelite’s UV-LED fiber-coupled light source ALE/3 (Advanced Light Engine THREE) is a logical evolution to make our technology available to a broader customer base. This fiber-coupled LED spot light source targets UV curing applications which have to be precise and reliable but do not require the ample power generated by our highest-performing UV-LED exposure systems. Its optical output, build size, and control interfaces match or surpass the specifications of popular UV light curing units using conventional 200 W mercury discharge lamps or LED technology at a comparable power output level. The ALE/3 connects to our proven high-transmission LED Lichtleiter to flexibly deliver narrow- or broadband UV radiation exactly where you need it in your individual setup.
Our ALE/3 LED spot light source has its roots in automotive high-volume manufacturing. Production equipment going into this industry’s assembly lines must comply with some of the most demanding requirements. Tools must be automation-ready, have a minimal footprint, and perform most reliably. Even minor unplanned downtime can easily exceed the capital investment of installed UV curing units. The ALE/3 LED spot light source excels in such environments. Delivering high and stable output with little to no maintenance needs also convinces many of our defense, electronics, medical, and optics manufacturing customers today.
ALE/3 systems are super-compact light guide coupled LED light sources that are very easy to set up and operate and require almost zero maintenance. Its innovative internal thermo-electric heat management keeps the installed high-power LED Module cool to max out service life. And ALE/3 LED Modules are field-replaceable: no tools are necessary in case you need to change a LED Module quickly.
Our ALE/3 Light Engine features an intuitive touch display for system setup and supports various standard interfaces to operate the unit. These include debounced inputs for simple external switching devices, USB (serial), a discrete PLC interface (TTL), and Ethernet or Modbus communication.
LEDs are high-NA light emitters (broad angular radiation pattern). In an efficient setup combining LEDs and light guides, these light guides should be capable of transmitting as much radiation as possible to the point of application. In other words, the LED source’s NA must match the NA of the light guide. And that is why conventional fiber light guides (low NA) cannot do the job. We offer single- and multi-pole LED Lichtleiter, which perfectly fit our ALE/3 LED light source. Typically, their power delivery is superior to conventional silica fiber light guides by a factor of two to three, while mechanical flexibility and service life are at par.
Depending on your application, you may acquire standard or customized LED Lichtleiter from us. Available options include:
It could be worth checking out our LED Performance Optik in many cases, too. As the numerical output aperture from our LED Lichtleiter is around 0.6 (α ~ ±35°), our lens systems can be an economical addition to reduce divergence or even focus radiation for maximum intensity. Our LED Performance Optik are also beneficial if you want to improve the uniformity of the exposure field, which can be either hexagonal or square in shape.
Primelite’s LED Performance Optik exclusively use UV-grade material.
Many applications, particularly UV curing, benefit from a broader exposure spectrum. That is why ALE/3 LED spot light sources can handle two separate wavelength channels you can set up and control individually. You may opt for our high-output single CWL LED Modules with an emission spectrum in the near ultraviolet (NUV), visible (VIS), and near infrared (NIR) ranges. Or you may go with our broadband solution featuring central wavelengths at 365 nm and 405 nm that perfectly match the NUV output power and spectrum of a typical 200 W mercury discharge lamp.
